Hello

I am french from Lorraine, and doing genealogiy research, i found one GGGGGGGGG father was english, and on his certificate, it said he is born in 1715 in "Comté de Galles" and his father is living at "OSWENTRY". Somebody know where is located this town ?? not sure if it is in Wales either.
My grandfather surname is ARTHUR.
Well, look at here, they are on my website here: http://gw.geneanet.org/index.php3?b=fichbe...t=L&bd=0&color=
Thanks for any answer and help about genealogy in england

Hi,
The place you want is actually called 'Oswestry' and it is currently in England and not Wales. If you look on a map and find the English town of Shrewsbury, Oswestry is about 15 miles nw and about the same distance south of Wrexham. As border's have changed Oswestry may have been in Wales at some point; all the place names to its east are english and to its west are Welsh!
